We do get a bit of momentum on the Ramsey Rosso front this week, with Caitlin confronting the rapidly deteriorating doctor in lieu of Barry himself.
#The flash season 4 episode 6 series
Could Carlos Valdes support the series in the absence of Grant Gustin's Barry? Perhaps not long-term, but I do think the series would be just fine if Barry took a break after Crisis. This episode could be dismissed as a simple side-story, but it matters in the sense that Cisco undergoes a critical character arc. This brings Cisco back to his roots and forces him to rely on nothing but his brains and his goofy inventions to survive. This series has too many metahuman leads as it is. "Kiss Kiss Breach Breach" really justifies the decision to eliminate Cisco's Vibe powers in Season 5. Most importantly, Cisco himself proves to be a capable leading man as he's thrust into the spotlight. The reveal that Breacher views Cisco as his son even after the breakup lends a nice bit of weight to what's generally depicted as a goofy rivalry. This week's conflict manages to balance the humor inherent to this oddball pairing and the pathos of a father grieving for a lost daughter. I seems an ill-fitting end to the character, though to be fair, it wouldn't be too difficult to bring her back should Camacho opt to return.Īnd in any case, the friction between Cisco and Breacher tends to be the highlight of these Cisco episodes anyway. I do wish she had been able to return one last time rather than her character essentially being killed off-screen. It's not surprising Gypsy is being written out of the show given Jessica Camacho's commitment to Watchmen.

Gypsy is dead, her father is out for blood and Cisco can't be sure he wasn't the one to pull the trigger. Instead, what follows is a fairly somber conflict as far as Cisco's misadventures go. Trying to maintain that lighthearted tone would have been a mistake.

#The flash season 4 episode 6 how to
This is, at the end of the day, still a story about Cisco trying to confront his friend's inevitable demise and learn how to trust in himself enough to become a leader. But thankfully, the humor doesn't overstay its welcome. We meet Cisco's latest invention, the AI program BARI, and get to enjoy a healthy dose of A-Team references. This episode starts out on a very lighthearted note. This episode, as much as any other this season, demonstrates how much better The Flash has gotten about tonal balance and organically shifting between humor and darkness. And by play, I mean "become embroiled in a dramatic murder mystery involving his ex-girlfriend and her homicidal father." We've all been there. This episode builds on one of the more significant plot threads from the current season, as Barry continues grooming Cisco to carry on his legacy and lead STAR Labs.
